Dr. Ma. Liza Antoinette M. Gonzales is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine, UP Manila and is a Pediatric Infectious Disease specialist. She is currently the Associate Dean for Faculty and Students at the UP College of Medicine. She has a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, College of Medicine, UP Manila. She also completed an Advanced Vaccinology course in Veyrier du Lac, France in 2010. Her main research interests are on vaccines, antibiotic use, tuberculosis, parasitic and protozoal diseases (amebiasis, schistosomiasis), and HIV infection.

She has contributed in the writing of book chapters and modules on various topics in infectious diseases, antibiotics and vaccines that are currently being used by medical students, resident physicians, infectious disease fellows and specialists, pediatricians and other medical and paramedical practitioners. She has collaborated with the Department of Health in the development of technical papers and recommendations on tuberculosis, pediatric HIV, dengue, schistosomiasis and vaccines which served as the basis for the formulation of policy drafts and national guidelines. She is a member of the National Verification Committee for Measles Elimination which reviews the progress of the Philippines towards measles elimination, provides programmatic guidance, and advises the Department of Health on requirements for verification of measles elimination. She is a past president of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines and is a Board member and Secretary of the Philippine Foundation for Vaccination.
