What is PFV?
Philippine Foundation for Vaccination, Inc. (PFV) is a tax-exempt non- stock, non-profit organization which aims to “reduce human morbidity and mortality through objective, ethical and scientifically accurate communication of the benefits of disease prevention through vaccination”.
It is composed of various stakeholders which include health professionals, academicians, private sectors, industries, government officials, media, patient groups, & civic minded individual.
Historically, PFV was launched in April 27, 2000 with the following as founding officers and organizers :Dr. Lulu C. Bravo of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines as President , Dr. Alicia B. Tamesis of the Society of Adolescent Medicine of the Philippines as Vice President , Dr. Enrique A. Tayag of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases as Secretary and Ms. Lani Mercado-Revilla, concerned citizen and mother as Treasurer. Subsequently other members joined to form the founding members and Board of Directors officially registered by the SEC in 2002.
The PFV core values include being pro-active in the activities and the advocacy of the PFV, integrity and excellence in work, social responsibility in the care of the child through disease prevention through vaccination, the ability to collaborate with other vaccine stakeholders and being a visionary for the future of disease prevention through vaccination.
Mission: “To advocate for, educate and conduct research on vaccination as a means of disease prevention to improve the quality of life of children, adults and their families.”
Vision: “As champion for disease prevention, PFV envisions a sustained reduction in vaccine-preventable diseases for a healthy nation.”
